2007 - 92 ROBERT PARKER

No 2006 was made of this cuvee but the 2007 Aljibes Tinto is made up of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Franc with the same elevage as the 2005. It exhibits a similar aromatic and flavor profile to its older sibling but appears to be a bit fresher due to its relative youth. It is also an outstanding value for drinking from 2012 to 2022.

These new releases from Bodega Los Aljibes demonstrate what can be achieved by talented vignerons working in selected regions of La Mancha. Bodegas Los Aljibes is one of the up-and-coming stars of La Mancha.

2005 - 91 PTS ROBERT PARKER:

The 2005 Aljibes Tinto is a blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% Cabernet Franc aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Deep purple in color, it offers up an enticing nose of cinnamon, clove, vanilla, tobacco, violets, black currant, and blackberry. This is followed by a spicy, intense, elegant red that over-delivers in a big way. Drink this lengthy effort from 2012 to 2020.

2003 - 90 PTS ROBERT PARKER:

The 2003 Aljibes, which spent 9 months in new French and American oak, is composed of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. It could easily pass as a Bordeaux impersonator. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an excellent bouquet of pain grille, vanilla bean, and spicy black currants. On the palate it presents a supple-textured personality with generous quantities of black fruit flavors, excellent balance, ripe tannins, and a long, pure finish. This outstanding value should continue to evolve for 4-6 years and drink well through 2020.

Aljibes 2004 was awarded the best Red for Vino de la Tierra de Castilla in February 2008.
